Describe Cancun in one word...... PARADISE !!!
It's the place you should runaway to when you want to relax during the day and party hard all night. Cancun was never somewhere I was dying to go... but believe me when I say "I am dying to go back!" I loved every second of it!
Like most of my adventures Cancun wasn't meant to be Cancun. I wanted to go to a beach but I had my mind set on going to Jamaica or Aruba! As usual something regarding the weather was happening around those areas (mother nature seriously hates me) that we had to change our plans.
The night before the trip we decided that the 6pm flight was the best option and since we all worked an early morning shift that day we figured it would give us enough time to make it to the airport........ Well that morning Marlene and I were at work 8am sharp, Jessica the other girl coming with us was nowhere to be found (overslept, maybe? lol). One hour into our shift we were talking to one of our Performance managers at work and he overheard Marlene telling me that she didn't want to be at work so he randomly blurts out "oh look the next flight to Cancun leaves at 10am" and we both looked at each other like .. how does he know where we are going?! so we tell him "yeah we are actually going to Cancun today but at 6PM" we all start laughing at the coincidence and then he looks back at the flight schedule and gives us a look like "have ya'll seen how full that 6pm flight is looking"...... we go into complete shock mode and see that he was indeed right there was NO way we'd make it to Cancun if we waited. So we automatically made an executive decision that we should use our sick hours because technically going to Cancun was considered an emergency LOL! We got our things and found Jessica and we headed to the airport, we were about to have the rush of our lives.
For some reason I can NEVER check in at the kiosk for international flights I believe because of my long name (thanks mom) and well that wasn't ideal for someone who was fighting time to make it to an international flight. Our flight was leaving in approximately 45minutes.
We all finally had our boarding passes and to our surprise on a Friday morning TSA line was swamped.... again there was NO WAY of making these flights but ya know I had a little bit of hope. Luckily, the departure gate was on the opposite side of the airport (sense my sarcasm here) so we literally rannnnn our way to the last gate and after almost tripping on my suitcase and fighting all the demons to get there we FINALLY arrived to the gate. There were two ladies working the gate one looked like she was going help us get on the flight but she moved too slow so her mean co-worker was like "no they can't get on it's cut off time, they'll have to wait" -_-
Our hope washed away and we sat there... out of breath... with less sick hours to our name... annoyed. We decided to go to the foodcourt for some breakfast to wait for our next flight. We hadn't booked our hotel just yet so this ended up being useful time. Jessica found this hotel on a website so she called the agency who for some reason was giving her a hard time to book, before we boarded the plane the agency confirmed that our hotel was booked so we believed everything was confirmed......................
Upon our arrival to my beautiful country Mexico we were greeted by the largest immigration line i've ever witnessed. SO many people were vacationing in March, who knew?! However, it did move rather quickly so I didn't complain too much. None of us had phone signal to call the agency to once again confirm our hotel and their was no wi-fi so that was a bit brutal. We had the name of the hotel so we waited in again the longest taxi line ever and we gave them the hotel address. To our luck (no sarcasm this time) the taxi actually had wi-fi!!! So as soon as we got the wifi we were back on track .... until the agency told us that our hotels price doubled and she didn't have anything else available...... Cancun was off to a very rough start as y'all can see.
The taxi man was hearing our struggle so he was giving us recommendations for hotels to stay at meanwhile jessica was looking on her phone. She finally found an all inclusive that looked amazing and the taxi man agreed that it was a good option so he took us there. Surprisingly it didn't take long for them to give us a room and in no time we were FINALLY on vacation mode.
This was my first time staying at an "All inclusive" hotel and let me tell you it is AMAZING !!! It's equivalent to a cruise without the boat.
We all agreed we'd settle in and get dressed to go out for dinner but you know 3 girls and one shower... it was taking quite a while lol so we got on that room service mode! I remember ordering "tiny cheeseburgers" and they certainly lived up to their name they were incredibly tiny !!
Once ready we headed off to one of the restaurants of the hotel for a full meal lol, we picked a Mexican restaurant and they had a nice mariachi playing live music and the margaritas were huge and the shots were soo good, they had tamarindo flavored shots! Never had I seen those before, very delicious!
We continued the night at the karaoke/bar area also in the hotel and had more drinks than I can recall. Mind you we can drink all that we wanted with no additional pay so those shots and cute fruity drinks DID NOT STOP COMING! (they were a bit wattered down though because after all those drinks I was only on tipsy mode.... or perhaps my tolerance level went up.. who knows? haha! The karaoke bar was seemingly interesting full of brave souls... I loveeee to sing.. but when it comes to "live live" karaoke i am a complete chicken lol!
We headed to the nightclub (also in the hotel) once the karaoke bar closed and it was not very packed they had all the right songs playing but nor enough souls in the room. We ordered more drinks and continued the party for a while.
While walking around the hotel we ran into a group of guys from Argentina who asked us if we wanted to go to "the city" to the "boliche" .. i remember saying "uh y'all are going bowling at 1am?!" LOL apparently boliche is like a club/bar to them, who knew. Anyway we of course said no to them like the smart girls we are but as soon as they left we googled the city and decided it was the best move to make, so we reapplied our lipstick called a taxi (or took a bus lol!) and headed over for some CANCUN FUN!!
We ended up at the club "la vaquita" and man o man was that the spot :D with only 40$ you had full access to any drink at the bar.. unlimited.. hmmm US clubs need to get with the program hah1 The dj was great and we somehow ended up dancing on the small stage section ALL night. You guys, I don't twerk nor do I know how to twerk, but that night I was doing it haha or at least "attempting too." (I probably ended up on someones snapchat like "wtf is she doing?!"
We made it home before the sun rise and we were drunk and exhausted from an eventful ass day. The next day we swore we'd wake up early so we set room service to deliver breakfast at 8am..... haha I remember hearing the doorbell and opening the door.. but the food unfortunately went to waste it was so cold by the time we woke up and there was no microwave :(
The rest of the trip consisted of a beach/pool day at the resort. The day was sunny and perfect and the water was crystal clear, I had a margarita at hand, it was PERFECTION.
Our second night out mocked most of our first night out... like i said we LOVED "la vaquita" so we ended up there for the second time and once again on stage .. it was just too much fun! If you guys ever go to Cancun i'd totally recommend you that place ;).
Although Cancun is obviously in Mexico since its a high tourist area I did feel it was more americanized than anything (I say this because my fat self was looking for a legit taco stand .. and I didn't find one. Maybe I was in the wrong area) but that was one of my observations.
I plan to go back to Cancun as soon as I get a chance but if you make it out there before i do... you should totally tag me in your pictures or send me recommendations of places to try ;) (ig @alondralizzz)
