My mind typically likes to run wild after midnight, so here I am.
--------------------------------------- SPOILER ALERT: If you are looking forward to watching the movie "A Star is Born" stop reading and come back once you've watched the movie. If you have watched it... read along. If you don't plan on watching it... still read along. ---------------------------------------
Since I walked out of the movie theater my heart has felt heavy.... and I simply cannot shake the thoughts away.
This man Jackson (aka: Bradley Cooper) had it ALL. A successful music career, fame, money, and most importantly he had someone who loved him endlessly. Yet he felt like his only way out was to commit suicide. WHY?!
Here's my take on it... You can have it all but if you don't have a solid foundation of inner self love, self care, it will eventually all come tumbling down. addiction, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bipolar disorder,
Mental illness is something that needs to be talked about more. It's real, millions of us live with a Mental Illness but many of us choose to hide that aspect of our lives. It shouldn't have to be that way. It doesn't have to be. My advice to you is to not hide from your demons because they will catch up to you.
I'll start: Hi my name is Alondra and I've suffered with depression and anxiety... it doesn't define who I am but it is my reality.
SEEK HELP. Most of what you see online are people who are constantly taking care of their physical appearances ... which is fine.. but we also need to start talking more about taking care of our emotional, physiological, and social well being. Let's start feeding our soul green juice and working out our hearts daily. Let's spread the love.. spread awareness on Mental health Issues.
Suicide is one of the most selfish choices anyone could ever make. Selfish because you're not thinking about the pain you will be inflicting on your loved ones. It may feel like it's the last resort.. like they will be "better off" without you but trust me, it's not, they won't be better off. SEEK HELP. There are people who have life threatening diseases who fight everyday to stay alive. If you are lucky enough to live a disease free life don't try to find ways to end it.. it is not your time. (Although Mental Illness is now being considered to be just as serious as Life threatening diseases). I know it is easier said than done. But it can be done. Addiction/ depression feel like one big hellhole that are impossible to get out of but it is possible. I promise, I've been there. It is not easy, but nothing is. Life is hard. We need to stop wanting these shortcuts and learn to take what we get and push through. Push through because all we are given is one life. As cliche as that sounds it's the damn truth. Just ONE.
Everyday... someone we know, or don't know is battling with suicidal thoughts. Everyday someone is acting upon those thoughts. HOWEVER.............. Everyday.. when the sun comes up it's your chance for a REDO. Everday... you can SEEK HELP. Everyday ... counts.
Be kind. Smile. Cry. You are not alone. You are here for a reason. find You are here for a reason. it You are here for a reason.
ThankYOU for reading.. I hope that if you're reading this post... you can't relate. If you find yourself relating just a little bit..SEEKHELP. You are not alone I got you. You got me. We have each other.
I love you all,
I hope this somehow helps. I hope my message is clear. Also, you should watch the movie. It is beautiful, real, and very raw. I hate the ending and I wish he would have gotten help but movies like these help bring awareness for topics as hard as this one and it makes people like myself leave the theaters with heavy hearts. -A
