Brace yourselves, I am about to write a BOOK ;)
Thanks for coming back to read, I appreciate youuuu!!
The cruise line we chose was Carnival and our ship was "Sensation." This was all 6 of our first time on a cruise and we had no idea what to expect. I know for me it was way more than I expected! It was better than described on "The Sweet Life on Deck" (ya'll know that Zack and Cody spinoff) LOL.
The adventure started off with a 6hour car drive which consisted of the girls sleeping, singing, snacking and the guys driving haha. We drove late at night and arrived bright and early (it was actually quite gloomy but Jonathan insists it was sunny, you look at the pictures and be the judge). Check-in process was very smooth, in no time we embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. The first thing we did was .... take like a MILLION selfies and then EAT! They had a buffet with a variety of options; burgers, Chinese, pizza, (can't remember the other stuff). It was all too good and unlimited... that was definitely dangerous for food lovers like myself! After we ate we went to look for our rooms, Yareli and Dario's room was right next to mine and Belinda's room and Mayra and Jonathan's room was on the other side of ours. We all agreed that we would change and meet up in the hall right by the elevator to go to the mandatory meeting they were holding for all of us, it was basically a safety meeting to avoid a Titanic numero dos. Once the meeting was done we got our first Bahama mama's and babysat those drinks for a lot of the pictures you can see above lol! They were soo fruity and strong my absolute favorite combination, it automatically became my go to drink.
The boat finally left Orlando, Florida around 4pm and we were officially Crusin' onto the Bahamas! Once the boat was off and on its way we made our way over to one of the many jacuzzis and we literally took over until the sunset came. It was a sunset for the books, or for my camera roll, since I love sunsets so much haha. Eventually the jacuzzi got too hot for us to handle so we did what was only reasonable and headed over to the pool to cool off (ohh, the sweet life!). They had music playing by the pool so it was all just purrrrfect (if you know me you know I LOVE LOVE LOVE to sing!!). When the guys finally dragged us out of the water we all went to our rooms to shower so we could finally look a little decent to go explore what Carnival Sensation had to offer.
For some reason me and Belinda were always ready on time and the couples could just never be punctual... I'm not sure why if their was only one shower and it was two girls and ONE plug for a hair straightener. Oh and don't forget the makeup and countless outfit changes, yeeaah strange how we were always ready first... :) haha!
When we finally all got together we went for round two of food... told ya, dangerous. We then proceeded to explore the wonders of the cruise ship. There was a casino on one of the floors, a mini-golf area on the top part of the boat, water slides on the opposite end, three jacuzzis, a game room (with the BEST air hockey ever), a club, a karaoke room, a ballroom where comedy shows take place, souvenir stores, and well a lot of other cool things! Everything was pretty exciting. We played a game of ping pong out in the deck, played some air hockey, and again took so many pictures along the way. That night we all decided it was best to sleep early since we had a long eventful day ahead of us so around 12am or so we all went to bed and got some well deserved sleep. After all we were exhausted... it had been such a long day of eating, drinking, and relaxing LOL (sarcasm intended!)
We arrived to the beautiful island of Freeport, Bahamas around 8am! I was so stoked to be there I literally woke up on my own with no sun and no alarm.. I just knew it was time. There was no sun was due to the fact that we got a room with no view... so it was really odd not being able to look outside but it was no big deal since the idea was to only be in the room for sleeping purposes lol. This particular morning surprisingly all of us were up and ready at the agreed time :) we went to over for the breakfast buffet and I was in breakfast heaven! (Quick Alondra fact; Breakfast is my favorite meal!) They had everything we needed, eggs WITH cheese, pancakes OR waffles, bagels, fruits, hashbrowns, coffee... everything. I was stuffed to say the least.
We finally made our way out of the boat and we were greeted by ladies wearing some really cool traditional outfits and we got our pictures taken (they later put them on display on the boat for you to purchase). Right outside of the boat there was a large variety of souvenir stores to choose from and of course all of us girls wanted to check them out. Since we didn't really know what Freeport had to offer we were just going with the flow. After visiting serval shops we were greeted by a mean rain cloud that literally rained on us for about two minutes. Everyone that was outside at that time ran for coverage... but by the time they reached a safe spot the sun was out and the rain was nonexistent, as a Georgia resident I was not shocked at all lol. Shortly after the rain scare, a man who I believe works for a taxi company came up to us and asked us if we were trying to get to a beach. We of course said yes and he said he had another group of about 5 people he was about to take so he could take us all. It was 15$ round trip per person, we all agreed that we would do it, so we paid the man and got in the taxi..... (again here I go accepting strangers offers in strange places....lol).
The first thing we all noticed was the fact that the driving was on the opposite side of the rode (how crazy)I would definitely never rent a car in a foreign place, hell I could barely drive in the US! 30 minutes later we arrived to a gorgeous beach! I was automatically in love with Freeport! We proceeded to find our beach spot and on the way there we walked across a bar stand with coconuts and of course we all made a mental note to go back as soon as we got settled down.
We went back to the cute coconut stand and we met the coolest and funniest bartenders. They had music, the sun was out playing, and once we took a sip out of those Bahama mama's we were automatically feeling joyful to say the least. We drank, went back for a couple of refills and finally went inside the water. The water in Freeport was not as clear as Hawaii but not filled with seaweed like PCB, Florida (most of y'all can relate, lol) However, there was no rocks so that was a huge bonus! Yareli and Dario took their GoPro so we were getting a kick out of using that thing, we took so many "underwater selfies." By the way .. NEVER open your eyes in salt water (hmmmm, Mayra)!
One thing in particular I remember from this beach day is a conversation we all had; we were evaluating how blessed we all were to be able to have such luxury of going on vacation, something that not everyone has the privilege of doing. I have always been one to say that material things mean nothing if you don't have life experiences to look back on. Memories hold so much more value! This particular conversation was very meaningful, we also used this moment to plan a future trip to the cabins (which is a story for another day).
After swimming, drinking, eating the inside of our coconuts, and laying out in the sun it was sadly time to leave Freeport beach. We headed back to the taxi and drove back to the boat area. On the walk back there was even more souvenir set ups. This time just laid out on tables, they had some really neat stuff so much to choose from, just ask Mayra and Jonathan they just bought just about everything they saw haha!
Eventually we boarded the cruise-ship and went for a quick lunch since we were all starving! After lunch we went to the mini-golf area and went on a tournament against the guys, if I recall correctly, gals won, or maybe I'm just assuming that part lol! During that time it was very windy so the girls hair was out of control (which explains the rough selfies) but we did catch a double rainbow in the middle of the ocean, it was pure perfection!
Later that night after a nap and shower we all dressed up to dine in one of the restaurants. The food was AMAZING to say the least, from the appetizer all the way to the dessert it was just outstanding. Our waiter was also very sweet we talked to him for a bit and learned that he works on the ship nonstop for a variety of months and then takes about a two to three month vacation period to go home, pretty interesting! He also stated that one of the best cruises to take is to Alaska... since then I've made a mental note to add that to my bucket list :D
With dinner out of the way it was at last time for some night fun! We started the night out at the comedy show. I had never attended a stand up comedy show but after that particular show I automatically became intrigued. I died of laughter that night! I wish I could remember the guys name so I could stalk his comedy shows online lol.
The night continued and we opted to go to the casino. No one was interested in gambling but there was this particular machine that everyone lost a couple dollars too lol. The objective of the machine was pretty impossible since most machine games are practically rigged but I was entertained watching everyone take a turn and loose!
They FINALLY gave up on the game and we walked right into the karaoke bar where kids were doing solos and families were piling up singing to all different kind of songs. Me and the girls were debating if we wanted to go on stage and sing too.... but we chickened out, we needed more Bahama mamas in our system... and the audience needed more Bahama mamas in their system as well to be able to stand our bad singing hahaha! Although we did not sing on stage we sang along at our table and had a good laugh.
Upon leaving Karaoke conveniently the club was opening up for the night so we made our entrance. The Dj that night was playing a mix of everything and the audience consisted of all types of people; your typical youngin's, the parents, even grandparents lol (not even kidding). Eventually the couples stated that they were tired and that they wanted to call it a night.... me and Belinda were on another level and we were NOT going to bed anytime soon so we said our goodbyes and enjoyed our night. Most of the older people started slowly departing. Belinda and I suddenly turned into the life of the party haha everyone started a dance circle around us without even noticing ... and that was the moment when the cute guys came into effect .. :)
We danced until the Dj proclaimed that it would be the final song. We didn't get their names we just agreed that the next day we'd meet at that club once again and then we all parted our own ways.
We woke up in Nassau, Bahamas! The view of Atlantis and the crystal clear water was more than i expected! On that particular morning we signed up to do an excursion to swim with DOLPHINS !!!! we were all so stoked and ready to leave the boat! But FIRST of course, we ate breakfast! We were scheduled to meet in a the room where we would be taken to the island where we'd swim with dolphins. We all departed the boat and this time we were greeted by ... Mr Potatoe head? haha. We walked and followed the group of people who were also going to the private island with us and we all got in a decent size boat with two floors. Since there was a lot of people on the boat and not enough seats we ended up standing up the entire ride there but it was just about 25 minutes so it wasn't bad. The tour guide in charge of the boat was so charismatic I loved his personality and he had quite some jokes! He literally talked the whole way there and showed us Eddie Murphy's private island... talk about having money to waste!! During the tour he explained the reasons behind why some water is darker than others and all these interesting facts about the ocean...... too bad I forgot them lol.. but I promise y'all it was interesting!! We made it to the island and WOW.. WOW.. WOW... it was strikingly beautiful (pictures above). You could loose an object in the water and find it right away because it was that clear. I was so ready to swim! Since we were doing the dolphin excursion we had to go take a small class that informed us how to be safe and areas to avoid touching the dolphin.. like the eyes.. common sense but, ya know, I guess it has to be said. We finally got to the part where we went outside to meet the dolphins and ours was named Vin Disel, he was so charming!! Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of swimming with a dolphin so I was proudly able to scratch that off my bucket list!
After feeding Vin and take a million pictures we said goodbye to our new friend. That took about 2-3 hours of the day and we were free to explore the island. On the opposite end of the dolphins and sting rays they had the beach chair area, a BAR, a few pools, dressing rooms and a coffee shop. It was the perfect little world, why would anyone want to leave that place?! I know I didn't.
This is the part where I fell in LOVE with the most perfect drink ever, "Tropical Paradise".. it is the drink of my dreams.. literally, till this day I obsess on how perfect it was! I had a couple of those to say the least, we swam, took another million failed pictures with the GoPro and after all that fun it was time to say goodbye to the perfect island.
We took the boat back and still didn't get on the boat early enough for seats so we sat on the edges, too damn exhausted to stand lol!
Arriving back to the city of Nassau we still had time left before we had to board the cruise-ship so we explored the city. There was so much to do in the city it looked so lively with colorful buildings, so much people walking around both tourists and locals, selling seashells, paintings, food etc, reminded me of Guadalajara!
Once back in the boat we proceeded to our routine of eating lunch out in the deck but this time with the view of Atlantis. We stayed out on the deck for quite some time that day until the boat departed and I was slowing loosing everyone to nap time lol. I was literally the only one up to watch the sunset, for some reason I find it hard to take a nap unless I am truly truly exhausted, this has been an ongoing issue since Kindergarten lol.
That night we dinned in at the restaurant again with the sweet waiter and things proceeded just as the night before. There was another comedy show that night with a different comedian and this one was... not as funny.. but he did make us giggle a couple of times so it wasn't dreadful either.
However, one thing I remember of this night was one of the waiters. We were all drinking our usual Bahama mama's and I was almost done with mine so a waitress came up to me and asked if I wanted to purchase another one ... of course I said yes... she then proceeded to ask me for my ID, mind you, I'm already drinking .... and I've been on this boat drinking for some days now and no one had asked me for an ID so I wasn't walking around with it. I told her that no one had previously asked for it so I assumed it came up when they scanned my boat key card.. she then proclaimed that she'd sell me the drink she just wouldn't put alcohol in it, I was like ooooh no, you can definitely keep that one lol. I guess me looking so young has its disadvantages!!
That night the club was hosting "Latin Night" so of course we had to show up! There wasn't much people for that particular segment but we had a blast. The DJ was playing all of the right songs and we had more than enough space to show off those bachata and merengue moves, twirling and shit without bumping the person next to you is such a great feeling! The latin music lasted about two hours and we danced it all! The couples ended up leaving shortly after and Belinda and I were back at it again. I was on the lookout for the cute guys ;)... This time around we got their names and I cannot seem to remember them so I'll name them Jordan and Kevin lol. They were very down to earth and apparently on the cruise as part of a wedding party.
The club played its final song and just as the previous night we agreed we'd meet again, same place, same time.
Parte Quatro (The Final)
TOLD Y'ALL THIS WAS LONG...
The last day on the boat was considered "Day at Sea" since we would spend the entire day in the middle of the Ocean going back to Orlando. Since we had no rush to head out anywhere on this day we all opted to SLEEP IN! That was definitely necessary especially since we were out all night.
This entire day was so relaxing we spent the day tanning by pool, in the jacuzzi, swimming, and of course all while sippin' on Bahama Mamas! You simply cannot avoid those!
We also finally made our way to the waterslide section of the boat and got on the rides. The biggest slide was so much fun but it was so painful to go on! Painful? Yes! their was some sort of lines that held the ride together that stood out and the water of the slide was not enough to make it a smooth ride so going down that tunnel was like "ahhhhouuuchhhahhhhouuuuuch" lol y'all know what I'm saying? But regardless it was fun and through complaints and all I got on it at least five times LOL.
That night there was a deck party being hosted near the pool so we got dressed for the occasion. It appeared that everyone on board attended because it was Packed .. But of course why wouldn't it be packed if you can't really go anywhere else haha. That night was the first night that I learned to dance the shuffle and all these group dances. They had dance alongs and I was proudly dancing along, possibly with no rhythm but it was a good ass time! It felt like a High School Musical dance along... you know back when disney channel used to do cool stuff like that LOL.
Once the deck party was over we went to our usual night spot, the club and continued to dance the night away. Of course we saw Kevin and Jordan. That night the DJ was slacking so we left the club before it even closed and we headed out with the guys. We walked around the deck and played some air hockey. I somehow ended up loosing my keycard for my room so me and Kevin went on a scavenger hunt to retrace my steps to find it. That turned out to be a really nice night followed by a deep conversation about finding ourselves and love. It was the perfect setting.. we were on the boat, that was in the middle of nowhere, the stars were shining, he was beyond handsome...but of course nothing happened not even a kiss but it was just what I needed at that time. He ended up finding my Keycard somewhere in the game room area so that was a relief. That night he walked me to my room and I knew I'd never see him again and I was fine with that, I didn't ask for his number and he didn't get mine, (would of been nice now that I think about it ;) but my heart was in another world at that time. It was a great way to end my awesome first time cruise experience.
The following morning consisted of eating a fast breakfast and checking out of the boat. It was finally time to face the realities outside of the cruise-ship .... well not just yet since we still had the 6hour drive back home !
If you've never been on a cruise I STRONGLY recommend you to go on at least one in your lifetime. You'll love it. If you're planning a trip with friends, boyfriend or family, and you don't really want to do all the extra stuff like booking hotels, cars, etc .. book a cruise!! It's very convenient, even for people with kids, there's so much entertainment for both the children and the families.
PS. Take motion sickness medicine because there will always be that one person who won't be able to handle it... ;)
Thanks for cruisin' with me.
